A Brief History of the IBM
Founded in 1922 by Len Vintus, Gene Gordon, and Don Rogers, the IBM has grown into the world’s largest fraternity for amateur and professional magicians, magic enthusiasts, and collectors of magic apparatus1. What began as a simple letter-writing exchange among three young men who shared a love for magic blossomed into a global network of over 300 Rings, spanning major cities worldwide2. These Rings provide magicians with opportunities to connect, exchange ideas, and learn from one another.
The IBM’s objectives are clear: to organize individuals interested in the practice and promotion of the Art of Magic, facilitate the exchange of magical ideas, and promote harmony within the magical community1. Over the years, the organization has championed ethical magic practices, opposed exposures, encouraged literature, and advocated for humane treatment of live animals used in magic performances.
This is great! Kirk is the perfect choice to take over the helm. I look forward to the monthly meetings under Kirk's direction.
